Many people suffer from periodontal disease – gingivitis or periodontitis. Gingivitis usually refers to gum inflammation while periodontitis refers to gum disease and the destruction of tissue and/or bone. Untreated periodontitis will eventually result in tooth loss.
The main cause of periodontal disease is tooth plaque and tartar. The Initial treatment includes plaque and calculus (tartar) removal by ultrasound and airflow. If it is necessary we do PCR test – microbiological test that give us information about the exact infection agents.
It is very important the patient to be well instructed how to maintain good oral hygiene. We recommend the appropriate types of toothbrushes, interdental brushes, dental flosses and mouthrinses.
The solution in case of loose teeth is called “splinting”. When teeth are splinted they are joined together to increase they strength. In our practice we use special fiber – splint. This is a thin glass band that can be adapted close to the tooth, making it aesthetically pleasing and comfortable for the patient.
